For twenty years I worked with youth in the field of healthy sexuality. It was during this time that I went searching for tools and found the Reality Therapy Training. The skills i learned would serve me well for my twenty years of working with youth and their parents, I saw so many youth with so many problems and I needed the tools to help them.
My certification project back in 1988 was on Sex and Total Behaviour and I shared how understanding total behaviour would be effective in teaching about sexuality. Like it or not, with or without information, we will all have the same feelings and physiology when it comes to sex. We are born with the basic need for reproduction hence those feelings and body changes. Where we can impact sexual decision making is in our Thinking and Acting. Our thinking is only as good as the useful knowledge that we have. You can find my book Choosing a Quality Loving Sexual Relationship that explains all this in our Glasser Canada Web Store. .June 23, 2020 at 1:40 pm #28861June 26, 2020 at 2:39 pm #28900Breanne HansenParticipant
Is there an age Maureen that you recommend parents talk with their kids about the total behaviour of sex?June 26, 2020 at 3:02 pm #28905
Thanks for the question about age. You might be shocked to hear this but in 1986 Sexuality Guru Dr. Sol Gordon suggested that kids know the facts of life ( how babies are made) before they start school. If we don’t talk with our kids about this they will get information from other kids that my or may not be accurate.August 4, 2020 at 8:29 am #29595
Last evening i was thinking about this forum and what. I could do to add to it. Here is the link to a TEDX talk that I did back in 2015. Guess what? It is called ” Sex and Total Behaviour!”February 5, 2021 at 12:18 pm #57135
I just found a video I did about how to explain where babies come from. Decided to post it here. Please let me know if it is helpful
